Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify, WordPress … the choice is overwhelming. Here’s the honest answer for a typical small business.
Website builders win on…
- Speed to launch (a weekend)
- Zero maintenance worries
- Predictable monthly cost
WordPress wins on…
- Ownership. You own your data and can move hosts any time.
- SEO ceiling. No platform limits on what you can optimise.
- Flexibility. If your business changes, the site can change with it.
- Cost over time. A small hosting bill beats a SaaS subscription that grows yearly.
My take
Builders are great as a stop-gap. If your business plans to be around in five years, build it on something you actually own — WordPress.
Already on a builder and feeling stuck? I do clean migrations.
